Over the last month or so, NPR has had an expansive series on US bi-partisan politics called Crossing the Divide.

From the site:

Crossing the Divide will explore the pros and cons of bipartisanship in
Washington, and feature examples of compromise and cooperation from
politics, business and everyday life in America. With the 2008
presidential election looming, opportunity exists for the White House
and Congress to find common ground. But what's the best way to do it?

This series includes examinations of how work is done in a hyper-competitive atmosphere, what biological elements make us more/less like to cooperate, and the evolution of partisanship.

There is quite a number of features under this series.
